Scrubbables is a new platform concept created in conjunction with BBC’s iWonder department and connects the user with a wide variety of BBC sub brands. Throughout use of the platform the user can interact, personalise their experience and share with friends, whilst being served up a plethora of related content.
The Scrubbables app achieves this by allowing users to capture live BBC television content and modify it into short form viewable and customisable clips that can be shared across multiple social channels and link back to related BBC content. It is in essence a version of short form vine-esque video with additional functionality.
Scrubbables was piloted using AutumnWatch in November 2015 and launched on the BBC iWonder platform in January 2016. It was subsequently awarded the 2016 Prolific North Award for ‘App of the Year’.
“The Modern English team were responsive and agile in their approach and were a pleasure to work with. This was unknown territory and required exibility and good temper! Great! Scrubbables was innovative and well delivered. It has a lovely UX, is as robust as a prototype can be – basically it does the job.”
